## Exhibitions

### Tauba Auerbach: *Zephyr, Zephyr*

Sep 10 – Oct 24, 2026 · on view · 521 West 21st Street

New works by Tauba Auerbach on currents and turbulence: dot paintings of foam seen under a microscope, heat-sensitive photographs of water, chimes and moving sculptures.

In the new paintings, hand-painted dots on sprayed panels, hung slightly off the wall, build up images of liquid foam seen under a microscope, this time looking at how it catches light rather than at its structure. Small, mostly black-and-white photographs made with a heat-sensitive camera attachment trace hot and cold currents in water. Glass chimes hang around the gallery, and paired sculptures slowly rotate.

### Eric N. Mack: *You Red The Shirt Off My Back*

Sep 10 – Oct 24, 2026 · on view · 534 West 21st Street

Eric N. Mack’s second show with the gallery: paintings made from cut, dyed and pinned fabric, on the wall, free-standing and hung from the ceiling.

Mack uses new and vintage textiles and clothes from his own archive and from fabric and thrift stores, which he cuts and tears, dyes, stitches, glues and pins into abstract compositions. Some are wrapped around metal stretchers or pinned to the wall; others meet custom stainless-steel armatures he calls “hybrid readymade structures.” Sheer mesh and printed fabric hanging from the ceiling at the center of the room block the view and route visitors around them.

### Liz Glynn: *American Progress (after John Gast)*

Dates not published · on view · 529 West 21st Street

Liz Glynn’s 2017 copper sculpture of the empty dress of the striding figure in John Gast’s painting American Progress, shown in the gallery’s vitrine.

Thin, highly reflective copper sheeting takes the shape of the dress worn by the giant woman in Gast’s 1872 painting, an allegory of manifest destiny who strides west as bison and Indigenous people on horseback flee. The copper recalls both industrialization and the Statue of Liberty. Part of Glynn’s series The Shape of Progress, the work was first shown at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in 2017–18.
