# *Bacon / de Kooning* Two-person exhibition · Nov 4 – Dec 19, 2026 · coming up Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning Smaller-scale paintings by Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning from the late 1960s and 1970s, shown together. The show pairs Bacon’s canvases at his preferred 14 by 12 inches with de Kooning’s, mostly 60 by 55 inches, sizes both painters chose for their human proportions. It looks at how each used that scale to concentrate gesture and feeling, between figuration and abstraction. The two met in 1975 in New York during Bacon’s Metropolitan Museum retrospective. The gallery says this is the first exhibition to set them side by side, in its 1932 Beaux-Arts townhouse.
