# Ziyi Zhang: *Pixel//Flesh* Sep 9 – Oct 17, 2026 · on view, closing soon Ziyi Zhang, Curated by Jinyi Freya Xu Data-Body Paintings that turn digital images into robot-fabricated relief surfaces finished by hand in oil, pearl powder and epoxy clay. Zhang starts from everyday fragments such as a knitted sweater, a shower curtain, wire or a chipped wall, scans them into virtual space and flattens them into pixels. Using robotic fabrication developed with Canon Solutions, she turns the images and 3D meshes into topographical surfaces. She then adjusts and paints these by hand with oil pigment, pearl powder and epoxy clay. Up close, pixels protrude and gradients become ridges. The show, curated by Jinyi Freya Xu, asks what flesh means once the image leaves the screen.
