### *I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now*

Group exhibition · Oct 15, 2026 – Jan 11, 2027 · coming up

Fujioka Aya, Ishiuchi Miyako, Kawauchi Rinko and others

Photographs, installations, photobooks and printed matter by twenty-eight Japanese women artists, from the 1950s to today.

The show reconsiders the history of Japanese photography through twenty-eight women of several generations. Its works look at everyday life, at the roles women in Japan have held and reshaped, and at ways of pushing the limits of the medium.

Organized by Aperture with the Rencontres d’Arles and curated by Pauline Vermare, Lesley A. Martin and Takeuchi Mariko, it accompanies Aperture’s 2024 book. Artists include Ishikawa Mao, Sawada Tomoko, Ninagawa Mika and Yanagi Miwa.

### Laia Abril: *On Rape and Institutional Failure*

Oct 15, 2026 – Jan 11, 2027 · coming up

Photographs, testimonies, archival material, objects and sound and video installations on rape and the institutions that failed its victims.

The show centers on the second chapter of Abril’s ongoing project A History of Misogyny. It traces how gender stereotypes and widespread prejudice have fed a rape culture that persists today, looking at institutions rather than blaming victims.

First shown in 2020, in the wake of the early allegations against Harvey Weinstein, it was curated at ICP by Sara Ickow.

Portraits of Chicago public school students, made over several years during an artist residency.

Since 2018 Pinney has photographed students in Chicago Public Schools as an artist residency. As they welcomed her into their world, the project grew into a record of identity, community and pressing social issues.

Her portraits follow young people through the changes of adolescence, with moments of triumph, grief, humor and tenderness. The show is part of ICP’s Incubator Space program for emerging documentary photographers, curated by Sara Ickow.
