# sonia louise davis: *a promise, a portal, possibility* Oct 30 – Dec 5, 2026 · coming up Eight new tufted soft paintings, a steel sculptural instrument, a neon and hand-drawn wall text on improvisation. davis’s second solo show with the gallery fills the ground level with new work about the tenor and limits of improvisation. The works were made in her Manhattan studio and at Stoneleaf Retreat, an artist residency in upstate New York. The writer Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts, in dialogue with davis for months beforehand, contributed a text for the show.
