### Jem Perucchini: *Sospiro*

Nov 6 – Dec 19, 2026 · coming up

New figurative paintings blending Renaissance and Ethiopian church imagery with African textile patterns and Greek myth.

Perucchini paints youthful, enigmatic figures into scenes that borrow from early Italian Renaissance painting, African wax-print patterns, Ethiopian church frescoes, and Greek mythology. Monochromatic, jewel-toned compositions, often lit by a glowing moon or sun, place religious and portrait conventions outside any fixed time, suggesting solitude, partnership, and other lasting human tensions.

This is the Italian, Ethiopian-born artist’s first exhibition in the United States, following recent solo shows at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin and the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo in Seville.
