## Exhibitions

### Lauren Simkin Berke: *Notes on Gesture*

Oct 10 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view, just opened · Gallery I

New works on paper drawn with thick paint markers, plus observational drawings and handmade books from two years of practice.

Berke moves from twenty years of small, fine-line pen drawing to larger, faster drawings in paint marker that involve the whole hand, arm and body. The works act as notations, catching a moment, observed or imagined, in a way that can call up a memory.

The show covers two years: improvisational drawings made through a process the artist calls “shapes into things,” observational drawings of their summer home, and handmade books. It is their sixth solo show at A.I.R.

### Kirsten Batten-Leach: *Catalyst Carrier*

Oct 10 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view, just opened · Gallery II

Sculptures of rust-stained, sewn canvas and a magnetized graphite form, made through oxidation and corrosion to portray carework.

Batten-Leach cultivates rust on canvas with oxidized steel and copper, then cuts and sews the distressed cloth into sprawling, crevice-filled forms. A graphite sculpture holds scraps of slag in place with hidden magnets, posing the question of what is holding and what is being held.

The work draws on her own experience as a caregiver in family and informal labor economies. It is her first solo exhibition in New York City, and she is a 2025–2026 A.I.R. Fellow.

### Natalie de Segonzac: *ChairBodies*

Oct 10 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view, just opened · Gallery III

Self-portrait photographs and cyanotypes in which the artist’s body and wheelchair merge, shown with a hand-woven rope garment.

De Segonzac photographs herself with her wheelchair, using choreography, gesture and materials such as rope, fabric and light, in the studio and outdoors. The pictures consider a changed body and what it means to rely on a mobility aid. Cyanotypes appear in her work for the first time.

At the center of the room is Rope (2025), a hand-woven garment worn in her largest print, Rope (Tethered). The show is her first solo exhibition in New York and comes from her year as an A.I.R. Fellow.
