# Cici Wu: *Auld Lang Syne (prelude)*

Oct 1 – Nov 7, 2026 · on view

Eleven paper lantern sculptures programmed to strobe through the song “Auld Lang Syne,” the first show in the gallery’s new Chelsea space.

Wu’s lanterns, bamboo and willow frames skinned in mulberry paper, include two half-open doors, the goddesses Kuan-yin and Princess Bari, an airplane, a horse and a train. Each strobes through one section of the song in the order of its lyrics, ending at a replica 16mm projector looping a rice-paper “film.”

A small schoolhouse modeled on a 1913 photograph of a girls’ high school in Shizuoka, Japan, sits among them. It is Wu’s third solo show with the gallery.
