Rose Nordin and Brighter Futures

Fragrances, drawings, graphic work and a scented publication made with young migrants, exploring scent as a carrier of memory and place.

The show is the result of workshops between Auto Italia’s participation artist-in-residence Rose Nordin and Brighter Futures, a group of young migrants supported by Praxis and Kazzum Arts. Each collaborator developed a personal fragrance tied to a place that matters to them, working through smell, words, colour, drawing and print.

Nordin turns the results into graphic and installation work, including a “scent alphabet” of visual symbols, and a pocket-sized scented publication, A Cloud in the Fold of the Elbow. A programme of talks and practical training sessions on migration and rights accompanies the show.
