### francis and anthony almendárez: *navigating the archives within, vol. 2*

Nov 21, 2026 – May 22, 2027 · coming up

- Sat, Nov 21, 2026: Opening reception for end-of-year exhibitions

An immersive installation of video and multichannel sound tracing a century of Latin American music and its circulation.

The brothers continue their film and performance series on how Latinx communities are represented in American media, here focusing on music as a living archive shaped by transnational exchange and the entertainment industry.

Original and archival materials set genres against improvisation, language hybridization and the sounds of endemic fauna from their family homelands. The show is part of the Media Cycles initiative, supported by the Teiger Foundation.

### *California Collectives: Asian American moderns, 1924-1965*

Group exhibition · Nov 21, 2026 – Mar 6, 2027 · coming up

- Sat, Nov 21, 2026: Opening reception

More than fifty paintings, drawings, watercolors, prints and photographs by Asian American artists in California, from LACMA’s collection.

The show looks at artist collectives formed in California during the Exclusion Era, when anti-Asian laws and wartime incarceration shaped daily life. Groups such as the East West Art Society, the Shaku-Do-Sha, the Japanese Camera Pictorialists of California and the Los Angeles Oriental Artists’ Group organized exchanges and exhibitions from the Bay Area to Little Tokyo.

Drawn from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, including recent acquisitions, it is co-curated by Shannon Vittoria and ShiPu Wang and is part of LACMA’s Local Access series with Art Bridges.
