## Exhibitions

### June Edmonds: *Inheritance*

Sep 12 – Oct 24, 2026 · on view

New paintings in June Edmonds’s Flag series, their stripes broken by murky stains, with small draped flag works about Black childhood.

Edmonds’s fourth solo show with the gallery centers on five large Inheritance paintings in acrylic on linen: Standing Flag compositions built from many shades of brown in thick, tallied brushstrokes, each interrupted by a dark stain that stands for unresolved history.

Smaller Draped Flag works hang alongside, loose canvases cinched at the middle so they resemble children’s clothes or hoodies, made in memory of young victims of racial violence such as Emmett Till, Tamir Rice and Trayvon Martin.

### Phung Huynh: *Bite the Hand That Feeds You*

Sep 12 – Oct 24, 2026 · on view

Drawings, paintings and installations by Phung Huynh built around the pink donut box, an emblem of Cambodian refugee labor in California.

Huynh’s third solo show with the gallery includes graphite drawings made directly on pink donut boxes, among them her parents’ wedding and her family at a refugee camp, alongside paintings and installations such as a piece built with a time-punch machine and card rack.

The work looks at the toll behind refugee-run donut shops and turns the title’s idiom against the expectation that refugees stay grateful, taking aim at U.S. resettlement policy and immigration enforcement.

### Sherin Guirguis: *Into the Lake of Fire // ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉ̀ϯⲗⲩⲙⲛⲏ ⲛ̀ⲭ̀ⲣⲱⲙ*

Sep 12 – Oct 24, 2026 · on view

Monoprints by Sherin Guirguis, made during a fellowship in Paris, that draw on ancient Egyptian symbols and pigments to honor an Indigenous Egyptian language.

Guirguis made the series during a Sam Francis Foundation fellowship in Paris, working from Egyptian objects held in the city’s collections. The title, also written in Coptic script, comes from a passage in the ancient Spells of Coming Forth by Day, better known as the Book of the Dead.

Glyphs and symbols of nature and protection repeat across the sheets in gold, faience blue, carnelian red and ochre, printed on matte black or watercolor paper.
