The collection’s 30th presentation gathers works by some forty artists around chaos as a source of creation rather than a threat.
Curated by Clara Meister, the presentation draws on the Hoffmann collection to treat chaos in its ancient Greek sense: an open, formless, boundless space full of potential, a field of possibility and a creative force.
Artists include Saâdane Afif, Rosa Barba, Julie Mehretu, Bruce Nauman, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Wolfgang Tillmans and Franz West. Permanent works in the Sophie-Gips-Höfe passages and courtyards, by Gunda Förster, Thomas Locher, Lawrence Weiner and Teresa Murak, remain on view.
