D’Agostino has photographed the ITER reactor near Marseille since 2019, where scientists from 35 nations try to reproduce the sun’s energy process. The series treats the site as an archaeology of a future still being built, pushing photography toward its physical limits.

It asks how images shape ideas of progress, power and the invisible. D’Agostino trained as an archaeologist, and his earlier books include NEO and Alphabet.
