## Exhibitions

### Christian Achenbach: *Echotropia*

Sep 9 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view · Nave

New landscape paintings and still lifes in saturated color, built around Genesis, a monumental canvas made for the nave of St. Agnes.

Achenbach’s third show with the gallery fills the former church’s nave. Its centerpiece, Genesis, sets a vivid landscape behind an abstract grid that recalls the squaring Renaissance painters used to enlarge drawings, shifting the viewer between several vantage points at once.

Around it hang still lifes of flowers set by windows and on curtained terraces, picking up his earlier floral Vanitas series (2012–2017) and the interiors he has painted since 2021. Achenbach, born in Siegen in 1978, lives in Berlin.

### Monira Al Qadiri: *The Archaeology of Beasts*

Sep 9 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view · Chapel

Sculptures, videos and a virtual-reality work drawing on ancient Egyptian gods and beliefs about animals, people and the afterlife.

Al Qadiri’s third show with the gallery, in the chapel of St. Agnes, brings to Berlin work first shown at Bozar in Brussels in 2024. Automaton pairs two slowly rotating black figures of the gods Khnum and Anubis, and in the video installation Book of the Dead, figures built from 3D scans of statues in Luxor recite spells from the Egyptian funerary text.

Aaru: After Lament, her first virtual-reality piece, places viewers in a golden wheat field, the Egyptian image of paradise, until a flood breaks in.

### Rebecca Brodskis: *The Last Ones Awake*

Sep 9 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view · Vault

Oil-on-linen portraits of the friends who became the French painter’s chosen family during her years in Berlin in the mid-2000s.

The paintings in the vault of St. Agnes picture close friends from Brodskis’s time in the city, when cheap flats and makeshift studios let a young, largely foreign circle of artists live on little and depend on one another. Her sitters appear absorbed and inward rather than posed.

Together the portraits remember that community and a Berlin that has since changed. Brodskis, born in France in 1988, lives in Paris.

### Karl Horst Hödicke: *Bilder aus dem Dessauer Turm*

Nov 12, 2026 – Jan 24, 2027 · coming up · Vault

- Thu, Nov 12, 2026: Opening, 6–8 pm

Paintings by Karl Horst Hödicke depicting his own surroundings, including the Berlin building where he lived and worked.

The title is the nickname Hödicke gave to the building on Dessauer Straße, near the Berlin Wall at Potsdamer Platz, where he lived and worked for decades. For a long time it was the only building left standing in an otherwise empty urban landscape.

The show centres on paintings of the artist’s personal surroundings. It is his seventh exhibition with the gallery and follows his death in 2024.

### Rachel Garrard: *Manifestations in the Light*

Nov 13, 2026 – Jan 24, 2027 · coming up · Nave

- Thu, Nov 12, 2026: Opening, 6–8 pm

Paintings made from hand-ground natural pigments on raw linen, shown in the Nave of St. Agnes.

This is Garrard’s second exhibition with the gallery. Her paintings are built from natural substances such as quartz, ash and rock powder that she collects and grinds by hand, then layers in translucent washes on raw linen.

The pigment records the place it came from. Her wider practice also includes sculpture, sound, installation and video, and treats the border between the physical and the ephemeral as porous.
