## Exhibitions

### Kira Freije: *Between Sunlight*

Sep 13, 2026 – Feb 21, 2027 · on view · Maschinenhaus M1

A group of sculpted figures by the London artist Kira Freije, built with fabric and found materials and absorbed in their own thoughts.

Freije, born in London in 1985 and shortlisted for this year’s Turner Prize, fills the Maschinenhaus M1 with a group of figurative sculptures. Fabric and found materials give the figures a layered, tactile surface; they seem bound to one another while each stays turned inward, and the stories they suggest are left open. Curated by Laura Smith.

### Mischa Kuball: *boiler house*

Sep 13, 2026 – May 30, 2027 · on view · Kesselhaus

A site-specific light work by the Düsseldorf conceptual artist Mischa Kuball for KINDL’s former brewery boiler house.

Kuball, born in Düsseldorf in 1959, works with light to examine buildings and the politics around them. For the tall Kesselhaus, the old boiler house of the Kindl brewery, he has made a new installation that links the room’s industrial past with the present. Curated by Kathrin Becker.

### NEOZOON: *together*

Sep 13, 2026 – Feb 21, 2027 · on view · M1 VideoSpace

- Wed, Oct 28, 2026: NEOZOON in conversation with the philosopher Rahel Jaeggi, in German, 7 pm

A video work by the artist collective NEOZOON that uses irony to question the story of human progress as settlement, property and borders.

NEOZOON take on the male-dominated account of human history, in which progress runs from settling land to owning it and defending it. With dry humor the work exposes how hard living together is, while sketching other possible futures. Shown in the M1 VideoSpace; curated by Magdalena Mai.

### Thu-Van Tran: *Write As Beasts Scream at Night*

Sep 13, 2026 – Feb 14, 2027 · on view · Maschinenhaus M2

Recent ceramics, paintings and drawings by Thu-Van Tran on the ecological and human damage of colonialism in Vietnam and Australia.

Tran, born in Ho Chi Minh City in 1979 and based in Paris, shows her latest work, some of it made for this show: ceramics, painting and drawing tracing the colonial histories of Vietnam and Australia and their echoes in Europe. The works treat nature as a quiet force of resistance against the harm people have done to it.

Co-produced with the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici. Curated by Kathrin Becker and Magdalena Mai.
