Each artist, among them Robert Polidori, Gregor Schneider, Viktoria Binschtok, Ricarda Roggan and Paolo Ventura, shows one body of work: empty studios and museum rooms, long exposures in which people vanish, Berlin and London subway tunnels, dance and theater. A sequel to the foundation’s 2019 show Body Performance. In the main hall, wall-sized murals and Polaroids show Newton’s hotel lobbies, Monte Carlo streets and garage, and his 1983 theater photographs with Pina Bausch in Wuppertal for The New Yorker. Newton and the collector Gert Elfering chose the black-and-white and color prints, mounted them on card and annotated each by hand with a title or anecdote. Now framed one by one and lent by the Nicola Erni Collection, they mix well-known fashion pictures with working shots never exhibited before, Polaroids and advertising images. Revisiting Helmut Newton* From Apr 24, 2026 · on view · Ground floor A film installation on Helmut Newton’s life and work, projected across four screens on the ground floor while the permanent display is rebuilt. Eight projectors show a looped film that combines a portrait made for a Newton show in A Coruña with unreleased footage, including June Newton’s own recordings, and interviews with Philippe Garner, Carla Sozzani, Jenny Capitain and others. Nearby are nearly 100 exhibition posters, a long case of magazines with work by Newton and Alice Springs, and Spotlight: Behind the Frame, starting with Newton’s 1975 Rue Aubriot photograph.
