# Aubrey Levinthal, Biala and Tal R: *From the Sleep Side* Sep 10 – Oct 10, 2026 · closed Biala, Aubrey Levinthal, TAL R Recent oil paintings by Aubrey Levinthal shown with interiors and still lifes by Biala and works on paper and canvas by Tal R. The show sets Aubrey Levinthal’s new panel paintings of domestic scenes, windows and mirrors beside works by two painters she counts as sources: Janice Biala (1903–2000) and Tal R (b. 1967). Its title borrows from Anne Carson’s dream of entering a living room from the “sleep side.” Tilted perspectives, closed eyes and mirrors painted shut link the three. It is the first Biala show in Berlin in sixty years, since a 1966 group exhibition at the Amerika-Haus, and it was presented as part of Berlin Art Week.
