## Exhibitions

### *everybody*

Group exhibition · Aug 8 – Nov 29, 2026 · on view

Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz, EVA & ADELE, Carolyn Lazard, Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju, Janne Kummer, Luís Lázaro Matos and Lauryn Youden

A group show, prompted by Olivia Laing’s book Everybody, on the body as something shaped by social history, politics and feeling.

Objects and installations by Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz, EVA & ADELE, Carolyn Lazard, Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju, Janne Kummer, Luís Lázaro Matos and Lauryn Youden deal with vulnerability, closeness, autonomy and resistance, treating the body as changeable rather than fixed.

Shown in Kolbe’s former studio house, the works set themselves against the idealized, often heroic figures of his sculptures in the garden outside. Curated by Eva da Silva Antunes Alves.

### Ro Robertson: *The Swimmer*

Apr 2 – Oct 18, 2026 · on view, closing soon

A new temporary steel sculpture in the museum garden, made for the Marlow Moss exhibition.

Each summer the museum commissions a temporary work for its garden; this year it is The Swimmer by Ro Robertson (b. 1984). It was made for the group show on the Constructivist Marlow Moss, and is one of three new sculptures Robertson created for it.

Robertson works in steel, welding and industrial processes, drawing on a family history of Sunderland shipbuilders. Like Moss, Robertson lives in far west Cornwall, and shares her interest in repetition and doubling of forms, treating sculpture as a process tied to body and place.

### *Räume schaffen. Die Konstruktivistin Marlow Moss*

Group exhibition · Apr 2 – Oct 18, 2026 · on view, closing soon

Leonor Antunes, Tacita Dean, Florette Dijkstra and Ro Robertson

A show on the Constructivist Marlow Moss with contemporary responses, including Ro Robertson’s steel sculpture The Swimmer in the garden.

Each summer the museum places a temporary work in its garden. This year it is The Swimmer by Ro Robertson (b. 1984), one of three sculptures made new for the show. Robertson takes up Constructivist ideas, working in steel and welding, a nod to ancestors in Sunderland shipbuilding and heavy industry.

Like Moss, Robertson lives in far west Cornwall. Both share an interest in repetition and doubling of forms, and Robertson extends sculpture toward body and performance. Another new piece, Freeform I, was “baptised” with seawater in Lamorna Cove.

### *Waschbären, Wildschweine, Windhunde*

Group exhibition · Dec 12, 2026 – Feb 28, 2027 · coming up

Max Liebermann, Aristide Maillol, Gerhard Marcks, Max Pechstein, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Auguste Rodin and others

Over 100 drawings and prints from the museum’s own collection, from forest paths and wild boar to body studies and city views.

Rarely shown in such breadth, the museum’s holdings of works on paper by twentieth-century artists, among them Liebermann, Maillol, Marcks, Pechstein, Renoir, Rodin, Schmidt-Rottluff and Renée Sintenis, are displayed together. Animals, landscapes, body studies, allegories and urban views mix in a loose, playful hang.

Kolbe’s former studio becomes a working drawing room where visitors can draw during opening hours, with guided drop-in sessions on some Sundays. Curated by Dr. Elisa Tamaschke; the drawing studio is led by Barbara Campaner.
