Alongside the exhibitions, the entrance room of Galerie Wedding becomes a “third place” between exhibition space, neighborhood meeting point and cultural laboratory. A changing program of screenings, radio broadcasts, concerts, workshops and education formats invites visitors to take part. The project treats art as a social and memory-political practice, made with and for the neighborhood. The room was designed by Macla Valencia Carmona; events so far include a Queer Knitclub and concert evenings. The project looks at present-day German-Polish ties through the personal and professional biographies of its participants, setting individual perspectives against simplified national narratives. Its core is three map-based installations: life trajectories, a polyphonic set of mental maps, and an archive of transnational projects. A participatory platform, TUiTAM LAB, adds workshops, screenings, performances and talks on migration, memory, European identity and ecological change. It is a cooperation between Galerie Wedding and Korsi Berlin e.V., with an online archive launching at the opening.
