# *Ideal and Form: 19th Century Sculpture from the Nationalgalerie Collection*

Dates not published · on view

More than fifty 19th-century sculptures from the Nationalgalerie, tracing the Berlin School from Schadow to the Deutschrömer.

A permanent display in Schinkel’s 1820s church, the show surveys sculpture from the Schinkel era to the German Empire, with works in marble and bronze, some monumental. It follows the Berlin School and its ties to France, Rome, England and the USA.

Schadow, Rauch, Emil Wolff, Angelica Facius, Elisabet Ney and Anna von Kahle are shown, along with Adolf von Hildebrand and Artur Volkmann, whose reduced forms around 1890 turned away from Neo-Baroque drama.
