## Exhibitions

### *Poor Traits: Beyond the Image*

Sep 9 – Oct 24, 2026 · on view, closing soon

- Wed, Oct 14, 2026: Artist talks, 6:30 pm
- Fri, Oct 23, 2026: Finissage, 6–9 pm

Nine artists show paintings, photographs, AI-generated prints, video and installation that treat the face and identity beyond likeness.

The title puns on “portraits” to point at the flaws and vulnerabilities that make us human. Nine artists approach identity as something constructed, performed, concealed and revealed rather than simply depicted.

Works include Mario Klingemann’s neural-network faces printed on stainless steel, Christian A. Lang’s medium-format child portraits shot through textured glass, Sylvie Wozniak’s year of daily smartphone-derived faces on paper, and Vishal Shah’s film Vellum and title-card work Legends.

### Gabriele Sauerland: *In / Tension*

Oct 22 – Nov 21, 2026 · coming up

- Thu, Oct 22, 2026: Opening reception, 6–9 pm

Mixed-media paintings between figuration and abstraction, made without brushes on canvas, cardboard, paper and wood.

Berlin-based Sauerland builds her paintings with spatulas and other materials rather than brushes, layering, reworking and scraping back surfaces so that earlier states stay visible. The title points to both material tension and the artist’s intention.

Subjects come from social issues and personal experience: Femicide and the Apocalyptic Horses address violence, war and scarcity, while Heavy Head deals with exhaustion. Trained as an architect, Sauerland has shown publicly again since 2024.

### Verena Bachl: *Graceful Degradation*

Nov 13 – Dec 18, 2026 · coming up

- Fri, Nov 13, 2026: Opening reception, 6–9 pm

Sculptures and installations by Verena Bachl using industrial materials and light, on systems that change state gradually.

Bachl’s works draw on industrial elements and material processes to ask how functional objects persist after the systems they served have faded. The exhibition dwells in transitional states rather than collapse, where stability is provisional and earlier logics leave traces.

Light becomes surface and reflection becomes structure, with tipping arrangements and metastable formations overlapping as phases of one dynamic. Works from 2019 to 2025 are listed, including the Everything Will Be Fine, All Colors Depend on Light and Minute Bodies series.

### Rhys Himsworth: *Menhir*

Nov 13 – Dec 18, 2026 · coming up

- Fri, Nov 13, 2026: Opening reception, 6–9 pm

CNC-milled panels and a few sculptures made from shredded electronic waste set in resin, carved with patterns drawn from marble and slate.

Himsworth shreds circuit boards, LCD screens and hard drives, binds them with resin into dense blocks, and carves them with three-, five- and six-axis CNC machines. The cutting works like excavation, exposing stratified layers of waste much as weathering exposes rock.

Surface patterns come from veining in metamorphic stones such as marble and slate. The panels read first as Modernist monochromes, while the sculptures recall Land Art. The title refers to Neolithic standing stones, and the works are framed as speculative monoliths.
